Kartini: Education Drives Women to Muddle Through Village Life Hardship

CIANJUR, BINADESA.ORG – Chairperson of Sauyunan Perempuan Petani Binangkit (SPPB) Kartini delivered remarks at the opening of Cadre Basic Course for the caretakers and members of the community on Thursday (25/08). Kartini believes that education for woman villagers, especially woman farmers, is one of the ways to spread awareness and drive people to care more and thus be able to rise above difficulties.

“Through education, we can be more aware and can take action to change our lives if we do it together we are stronger to muddle through the hardship of village life,” uttered Kartini in front of 31 woman participants and representatives from the village administrators.

The Cadre Basic Training was a three-day course held on August 25-27th in collaboration between Bina Desa and SPPB from Kadupandak District, Cianjur Regency, which is also a combination of eight different woman farmers communities in eight villages in Kadupandak District. Meanwhile, Hegar Kahuripan Woman Farmers Community of Cigaru, Wargasari Vilage.

With this course, awareness among woman farmers is hoped to flourish. Yani, course facilitator from Pasundan Farmers Union (SPP), hopes to hatch new cadres in each union who then would catch on with realities and obstacles faced by each village. “Cadres are also expected to motivate villagers to make changes for the better,” said Nining EF, facilitator from Bina Desa.

On a separate occasion, Mardiah, Head of Persaudaraan Perempuan Pedesaan, stated that the goal of this course is so that each participant is able to understand problems faced in each village and how to overcome those problems together, until cadres realize that they are the ones who can bring change by driving people.

This course was closed with making action plans for those communities in eight villages for the next three months.
